Terms of Service

Last updated: May 27, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Jonas Gumdal, the independent developer of the Blockr iOS app ("Blockr", "we", "us"). By installing or using Blockr you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Blockr.

1. What Blockr is

Blockr is an iOS app that uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to help you set and follow your own screen-time goals — for example, by blocking selected apps for chosen periods of time.

Blockr is a self-help tool. It is not a medical, mental-health, or therapeutic device. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If you think you may have a clinical addiction or other health concern, please consult a qualified professional.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher) to use Blockr. By using Blockr you confirm you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

Blockr uses Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping the Apple ID you use to sign in secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that are used for fraudulent purposes.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is final.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Some Blockr features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are sold and managed by Apple under the App Store's standard terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Screen Time and device behavior

Blockr relies on Apple's Family Controls framework to enforce blocks. Family Controls is an Apple system service and may behave differently across iOS versions, may be paused or disabled by you in iOS Settings, and may not block every possible way to access an app or website. We do not guarantee that Blockr will prevent all access to apps or content you have selected.

You remain solely responsible for what you do with your own time and device. Blockr is a tool, not a guarantee.

7. Intellectual property

Blockr, including its source code, design, icons, copy, and brand, is owned by Jonas Gumdal and is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Blockr on iOS devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms.

8. Updates and changes to the service

We may update Blockr from time to time, including by adding, changing, or removing features. We try to give reasonable notice of significant changes that affect paying subscribers. If a feature you have paid for is permanently removed, you may be entitled to a pro-rata refund through Apple.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blockr is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this clause.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of Blockr. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to Blockr will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

You can stop using Blockr at any time by deleting the app, and you can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought before the competent courts of Cyprus, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring the dispute in your local courts.

13. Apple-specific terms

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for Blockr or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Blockr. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14. Scope of license

The license granted in Section 7 is limited to a non-transferable license to use Blockr on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, and as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that Blockr may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.

15. Warranty

We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed in Section 9. In the event of any failure of Blockr to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for Blockr to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Blockr, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty will be our sole responsibility.

16. Product claims

You and we acknowledge that we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Blockr or your possession and/or use of Blockr, including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that Blockr fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation, including in connection with Blockr's use of the Family Controls framework.

17. Intellectual property rights

You and we acknowledge that, in the event of any third-party claim that Blockr or your possession and use of Blockr infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.

18. Legal compliance

You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

19. Third-party terms of agreement

You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Blockr. For example, if you have a VoIP application, you must not be in violation of your wireless data service agreement when using Blockr.

20. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.
